My vanity space

Remember college days sitting on the floor in front of the mirror doing your makeup?
I got you beat, I used to sit in the bathroom sink! I now have to have a dedicated space to do makeup. As a former makeup artist, I have a lot of makeup and I need a comfortable, functional space to work on my art (makeup duhhh). To be completely honest, I maybe wear makeup once a week these days. However, my skincare regime is a day and night habit that is never skipped. Its really nice to have this space to sit down and pamper myself usually while my daughter is watching and soaking it all in. As a matter of fact, my 5 year old uses this space daily to apply her face lotion. That makes me so incredibly happy! Beautiful spaces make me feel calm which is needed during self care so some thought went into making this space what it is.

I searched for a very long time for the perfect vanity. I knew I wanted to clean out my makeup collection and only keep necessities. I did not want the numerous acrylic containers lining the top as it had been in the past. I wanted a material that could easily be wiped down because you know how messy makeup can be! Of course I hopped on pinterest searching for beautiful vanities and makeup spaces that would make my heart flutter. I kept on seeing a cute little white one with clean lines and a mid century feel and I knew that was the one that I wanted in my space. It does only have one drawer so I bought dividers for the inside and filled it with my necessities. For functionality, I styled the top with a ceramic jar that holds all of my sephora samples and a vintage tray with my favorite scents and facial serums. I have my favorite anthropologie candle, some eucalyptus stems and a few books. When I am actually doing my makeup, I have a light up magnified mirror that I cannot live without.
The chair is a linen armchair from world market that I threw a faux fur rug under a fluffy pillow in it.

I really hope you make time for some self care, regardless of what that may be and I hope you find inspiration in the spaces of your home.

XOXO,
Amber

DIY painted fabric headboard

Do I believe in love at first sight? Not until I laid my eyes on this headboard at a yard sale. I wouldn't consider my design style eclectic, but I do enjoy eclectic pieces. This. Was. It. In its pink and gold glory. I had no need for a headboard at this particular time and it was listed for $80! So you think I would move on to the nearest $5 item I could put to use right? Nope! I batted my eyelashes and put on my whiny voice for my negotiator husband. $20 later were loading it into the bed of the truck. From that point on, she sat in the spare bedroom for a good year. When we bought our house last July, we knew we wanted to downsize our cali king and this headboard was the perfect size. However, the color was not. After searching pinterest, I found some informative tutorials on painting fabric. Me being me, I never follow things exactly. I must always do something a little different. I figured I would share that with you all. Before you read on, I must preface and tell you tha

Baby Registry

Hi Friends, It has been seven years since I put a baby registry together and let me say, things have changed! With my first child, I was pretty clueless and registered and bought so many things. It turned out to be a lot of wasted money. This time I've leaned on past experience and advice from other moms. I am taking a much more minimalistic approach. Disclaimer: Each parent and child is different. What works for me, may not work for you. Our budgets may be different and our views may differ as well. There is no right or wrong. I am just posting the closest things to what was on my registry or what I have bought. Some of this I used successfully with my first child, and some I am wanting to try out. This is also mainly directed for newborns and the few months thereafter to keep the list from being too long. I am also huge on researching, but I recommend do some researching for yourself. CLOTHING In my opinion, these are the necessities when it comes to newborn clothing.
