Almost exactly a year ago today, we bought our first house. Something I had dreamt about for so many years! My own little sanctuary to be the introverted homebody in my soul. Of course I was eager to paint, furnish and decorate too. We bought a renovated cottage from the late 80's. Since it was a recent flip, there were no major changes to the bones of the house. One of the first things we did after buying the house was extending the back porch slab. Best decision ever!(my husband was right, but don't tell him I said so!) We also painted an accent wall black and shiplapped a small wall. I almost immediately changed out 3 light fixtures and put ceiling fans in the upstairs rooms where there were just flush mounts.
